“True faith will no more fail to produce good works than the sun can cease to give light.” —Martin Luther
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Share a time you’ve experienced yourself or someone else being inconsistent between your words and your actions. What is our usual response when we experience someone being inconsistent with what they say and what they do? Why do we respond this way?
Read James 2:14-26. What does this passage show you about God’s character and about being his follower? What challenges, encourages, or sparks questions for you in this passage?
We are saved by faith alone in Christ alone and this saving faith produces good works. How have you experienced and/or witnessed faith at work (acts done out of gratitude in response to God’s grace)?
Needs can be overwhelming around us. Instead of shutting down, how can we seek margin in our lives to do something (knowing we can’t do everything!)? In what areas do you find it challenging to maintain margin for the sake of looking to the interests of others?
What encourages your love for God to grow?
In this season, we are called to trust God and his goodness. In what ways are you specifically being called to obey God in this season?
PRAYER
Share with your group how they can be praying for you: what is weighing on you from this past week? What are you praising God for from this past week?
In John 15:5, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
