We Know What Love Is

Passage: 1 John 3:16-24

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

What is something you know a lot about or enjoy continuing to learn more about?

Read 1 John 3:16-24. What ideas or phrases surprise, encourage, or spark questions for you?

What has shaped your knowledge of God’s love for you? How have you grown in knowing about God and knowing God personally?

In verse 23, God’s command is to believe in him and love one another. What barriers are in your life or perspective that challenge you faithfully living out God’s command? (Consider scarcity of resources, time, compassion for those who are different.)

Specific to your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc., who is Christ calling you to share his love with in this season (personally and as a community group)?

What daily helps you remember God’s love for you?

PRAYER

Share with your group how they can be praying for you: what is weighing on you from this past week? What are you praising God for from this past week?

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9

Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which to look out Christ’s compassion to the world. Yours are the feet which he is to go about doing good; yours are the hands with which he is to bless men now. – Teresa of Avila
