That Your Faith Might Rest on God’s Power

Passage: 1 Corinthians 2:1-16

What does maturity look like? Are there different types of maturity? How do you know if someone is mature?

Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-16. What does this passage show you about God’s character and about being his follower? What challenges, encourages, or sparks questions for you in this passage?

Why do you think Paul resolved to focus on the truth of Jesus Christ and him crucified?
Consider Paul’s description of how he came to Corinth. How would his description sound in our present context, if he was coming to preach at Covenant?
What reservations have you felt in speaking to others about Jesus?
Share when/how you became aware of the truth of the gospel? What is the significance of our faith resting on God’s power, not human wisdom?
Since then, what has spiritual maturity looked like in your life? How have you been taught spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words by God’s Spirit?
What does it mean to have the mind of Christ? How does this encourage or shape your daily life?
