Spirit-filled Living

Passage: Acts 2:1-14, 36-41

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” – John 14:16–17

What comes to your mind when the Holy Spirit is mentioned?

Read Acts 2:1-14, 36-41. What encourages, surprises, or challenges you in this passage? What images or phrases stand out to you?

What evidence is there in these verses of the Holy Spirit in action? What did the disciples experience in these verses?

Why do you think it would be significant for people from all over the Mediterranean world to hear Jesus’s disciples speaking in their native languages?

What was the response to the coming of the Holy Spirit? How do the responses in the passage encourage and/or correct your understanding of the Spirit’s effective presence and work in people?

When is a time you have been “cut to the heart” by hearing God’s truth?

Christians are “repent-and-be-baptized” people. How does repentance and remembering your baptism shape your mind, heart, and identity in Christ?

Share with your group how they can be praying for you: what is weighing on you from this past week? What are you praising God for from this past week?
